I stopped working out about four months ago. It's taken me a while to start again. It's just really hard. It's hard to find an hour to get up and go.
The cool thing is, once you make yourself go for a couple weeks, it's easy to go. You feel like your day isn't complete until you've worked out. You sleep more efficiently. It's easier to wake up in the morning. It's easier to fall asleep at night. And of course working out is good for your health.
But as I said, it's been four months. I really needed some heavy motivation to get started again. So I bought personal trainer sessions. Personal trainer sessions are kind of like doctor appointments. You arrange them a week in advance, and then if you cancel you are still obligated to pay. In general people don't like to pay for a doctor visit and then not use it.
So far it has worked for me. I've used two of my eleven sessions.
I have to say the sessions are definitely worth it. Some of the exercises my trainer has me doing look so stupid. They look like I'm doing nothing at all. Some stupid, useless exercise I'd never think to do. Then the next day that muscle is more sore than it has ever been. Meaning the stupid, useless exercise was actually a very good one.
I am using my physical therapist in that way. I have stopped working out for a few weeks and just can't seem to get going again. But the PT makes me move and that's something.
