I really have to give credit to my local Porsche dealership, Carlsen Porsche. It's a positive experience every time I take my car in for servicing.

For starters, they give out free rental cars while your car is in the shop. Previously they gave me a Porsche Cayenne. This time they gave me a Pontiac-something. (I was hoping for a Porsche Carerra, but you can't be upset with free anything.)

It turns out there was some part broken in my engine. Carlsen Porsche worked with my warranty company, who paid for it. I didn't have to do anything. I didn't even know about it until I picked up my car.

When I picked up my car, there was a minor plastic interior part that was broken. (The plastic mesh behind the passenger's head rest.) I don't think it was broken when I took my car in. I brought it to their attention, and they gave me a new part for free. No questions asked. The part is probably in the neighborhood of $25. But still, I don't think many dealerships would give a part for free, no matter how cheap.

A lady at my work has a Lexus, whenever she takes her car in the dealership for repairs/maintenance, she also gets free car rental. It's built in the price that they charge you...nothing is free!

Yes, we have to keep in mind how much money they get from a car like yours :-) Honda and Toyota usually give out free rentals too as long as the service costs above $300 or so. In any case, it is ALWAYS great to get good customer service so thank you for sharing :-)

One more reason I need to get a Porsche Cayenne instead of a mini-van.

Ask for a Cayman next time!

We bought a red and a black MINI baseball cap, and they threw in the MINI car for free!

I'm used to these kind of treats. Is this your first Porsche?

BTW, I forgot to ask how much did the oil change cost? :)

Is this my first Porsche? When I was 16 I wanted a '93 911 Turbo, but my family had a '86 Oldsmobile Cutlass in the waiting. I'll let you guess which one I got!

How much did the oil change cost? I don't know. When I signed the bill I closed my eyes.

The Ford Dealer in Austin gave both Tim and I free baseball caps that had some fake chrome trim on them...Tim sold them both on E-Bay for about $25.00 each :-) We used the cash to go out for a nice dinner in San Antonio last week. Maybe the auto dealers are feeling beneavolent these days, it's about time. To all Ford Dealers of America, I thank you very much! SKD
