I stumbled upon this link today: Iraqi Blogger Technical Support. It's a site that allows one to donate money to Iraqis who have blogs. That's a really cool idea.
I enjoy reading blogs. I enjoy reading them because the news is straight from the source. For example, if you wanted to read about some interesting news story in Mountain View, California, you know you could come to this blog and get the news straight from me (rather than from CNN, Fox News, or other news outlets that care only about viewership rather than integrity and honesty).
As such, I think reading blogs written by Iraqis in Iraq is awesome. I can get the news straight from them, as they see it. That's certainly a first in the history of the world!
Thank goodness for the internet! We can decide for ourselves what news we want to see, and who gives it to us. The sooner Dan Rather, Peter Jennings, and those dudes are jobless, the better. We don't need them anymore.
Anyway, the Iraqi Blog community consists of just four bloggers at present:
For all those who say that the war on Iraq was wrong and G.W.Bush or T.Blair depended on wrong information and their intelligence agencies were misled cause it depended on faulty sources regarding WMD ..etc.
And also for those who emphasize that the war on Iraq was mainly because of WMD..
Just tell me what's your 'great idea' that should have been used to get rid of Saddam and put an end to his regime? Or you think that you have nothing to do with Iraq and Iraqis? And you don't care about their lives and the way they were living under Saddam?
Is it fair to leave people suffering and dying of hunger and oppression, those people who were tortured by monsters and you just stand and watch at them or think in a way to help them which will last for years to be carried out and I doubt if it would be.
If you have all the power to put an end to someone who torments millions of people, wouldn't you help them? We lost innocent men, women and children, millions fled abroad, others left their schools and jobs cause they didn't earn enough money to eat, millions were executed and then you say "NO, leave them, we have nothing to do with all of that".. !
I can’t cover all the complaints and sufferance of Iraqi people with a simple post...
It's not fair to leave people under dictatorship and tyranny while others enjoy the democracy and freedom.
Actually, I don't have some facts about the UN laws and systems, but I want to ask : why don't the UN establish a way to keep an eye on governments and regimes like SH ? so that when the decision goes to give an order to that country who is suspected to live under tyranny to make a referendum under the supervision or even organized by the UN, and when it seems that those people don't want that president, the UN issues to stop that president, brush him off, adopt the elections and organizing that country..etc.
Frankly, the above task continued to be done by the united states not by the UN, cause the united states of America has the power and courage to change things, she entered the war and liberated a country with his people who were waiting for someone to help them for 35 years..
So, for those who don't agree with the war on Iraq I want to tell them if we depended on the UN and other countries who refused the war decision we would still live under Saddam with his thugs for the rest of our lives!
God bless Iraq, USA, UK and all those who helped in liberating us.
I've added a link on the left under the "other blogs" section. Click on it if you'd like to read more from Iraqi bloggers. I'll be reading them daily.
