... or, magazines pounding into your knee caps. That's what the flight attendants should say.
Looks like the next couple months will have me back in a position I've become very familiar with: the economy class. By that I mean, the economy class of an airplane.
Today I'll be flying down to San Diego to meet up with my brother and his wife who'll be touring San Diego for the first time. They'll be lugging in my new entertainment center with them on their drive in.
My brother and I started work on this entertainment center back in 1985 or so. Well, not quite that long ago. I think it was February of this year. When we thought we could construct it from start to finish in one weekend. Hah. (It was finally completed this past weekend.)
It's all walnut, and it was designed to perfectly fit my television. I can't wait to get it back to my apartment. Obviously, it won't be in my carry-ons for the flight back to the bay area. This Sunday will see a long 9-hour drive from San Diego to Mountain view.
The first weekend in September I'll be back in Austin for three days.
The first weekend in October I'll be at the Grand Canyon for about five days.
For Thanksgiving I'll be in Las Vegas.
For Christmas I'll be in Austin, I would guess.
That equates to about 20% of the remaining weekends this year -- for which I'll be in the air. Plus, there may be another trip or two in there that I haven't yet planned.
This on top of flying back from Asia in late December, Tucson early this year, and Hawaii last month.
Which is all pretty typical of my travel schedule each year (or perhaps a bit lighter than usual). But yet somehow I've managed to spread all my miles with so many different carriers that I've never once earned a free flight, or even an upgrade to business class (much less first class). So, yes it's back to the economy section - a place with which I'm very familiar.

There's an advantage for being petite...I have no problem w/ leg room in the economy section.

Gotta love American Airline for that extra little bit of room .. but then I guess they are not always the best option.
Thanks for choosing San Diego to be the place you met up this past weekend! It was great to see you all!

Amanda and I really enjoyed our trip to SD. Thanks to everyone for making it fun.

Oh man I would endure a flight in economy to be in SD.
